Although Stephanie has taken some time off of dancing now and then, she has been dancing since she could walk and cannot manage to give it up! So after years of attending and greatly enjoying Latin Street Dancing’s studio parties, she finally decided to join the LSD team to keep dance in her life as more than just a hobby.
While Stephanie has an extensive background in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and other forms of dance that includes teaching, choreographing, competing, and coaching, she has focused exclusively on ballroom and latin dances since 2001. She began teaching in 2002 and soon after became president of University of Chicago’s Ballroom and Latin Dance Association. At U of C, she danced 24 dances; took part in salsa and other performances; had a short run in competitive international latin dancesport; and taught group lessons, private lessons, and semiprivates for couples preparing their first dance for their wedding. After graduating from U of C in 2005, Stephanie continued to teach private and semiprivate lessons and remains active in Chicago’s dance community.
“Thanks, LSD, for the opportunity to keep doing what I love!” -Stephanie
